The Greater Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce is offering its third amazing journey to China to explore the magnificent Yangtze River for the special low price of $2799 ($2699 cash/check). Our first trip departed October 2009 with more than 55 travelers and our second group traveled April 2010 with 26 travelers.

You too can make your way to see incredible ancient and modern places in a safe and organized manner through this tour in April 2011. Enjoy unforgettable cultural experiences all the while learning how the Chinese economy operates. Witness first-hand one of the world’s most vibrant and fastest growing economies and cultures, as well as take a 4-day cruise on China and Asia’s longest river, the Yangtze River. You will see the Three Gorges Dam, which is the largest hydro-electric power station in the world and see why the river has such great historic, cultural, and economic importance to China and the rest of the world.

Itinerary
Day 1 - 4/9
Seattle/Beijing
Board a convenient charter bus in the morning from Hillsboro and travel to Sea-Tac International Airport for an afternoon Hainan Airlines flight #HU496 at 2:00 P.M. to Beijing. Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner across the international dateline.

Day 2 - 4/10               
Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, the capital of China at 4:35 P.M. You will be met by your local tour guide at the airport.

Day 3 - 4/11               
Beijing

Morning visit to the Jade Factory. Tour bus excursion to the Great Wall, the 4,000-mile long and 2,000 year old construction is said to be the only man-made structure visible by naked eye from the moon. Visit one of the Ming Tombs, one of 13 Ming Emperors’ Tombs is fully excavated and open for exploration. Evening show of an acrobatic show.

Day 4 - 4/12
Beijing

Visit the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420 A .D., where the emperors prayed to the heaven for a good harvest. Visit the Pearl Market. The city tour continues with the Summer Palace, known for its much significance such as the Long Corridor with painted gallery, Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, Seventeen- Arch Bridge and Marble Boat. Peking Roast Duck dinner and optional business conference with local government.

Day 5 - 4/13               
Beijing/Chongqing/Yangtze River Cruise

Take flight from Beijing to Chongqing, the starting point of the Three Gorges. Board the Yangtze River Cruise Victoria. Set sailing at 9:00 pm. 

Day 6 - 4/14               
Yangtze Cruise

Shore excursion to Fengdu or Shi Baozhai or Wanxian.

Day 7 - 4/15               
Yangtze Cruise

Cruise sails through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge. Shore excursion to Daning River or Shennong Stream. Cruise passes through the Three Gorges Dam ship locks.
                     
Day 8 - 4/16               
Yichang/Shanghai

Morning shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam. Cruise arrive at Yichang. Disembark after lunch. Fly from Yichang to Shanghai.

Day 9 - 4/17               
Shanghai

Sightseeing includes the Yu Garden, a maze of marvelous pavilions, ponds, rocky works and over arching trees. Visit the Shanghai Silk Rug Factory. Visit to the Bund, a famous waterfront park.
  
Day 10 - 4/18             
Shanghai/Beijing/Seattle

Depart from Shanghai to Beijing, and then from Beijing board flight for Seattle arrive at noon on the same day and return to the Hillsboro Chamber approximately 5 pm via charter bus.

  • Travel orientation: Wednesday, October 6, 5:30 pm at the Hillsboro Chamber (5193 NE Elam Young Parkway, 97124). RSVP by calling 503.726.2145.
  • Payment: $200 per person, non-refundable deposit at time of registration; full payment due by December 17. Deposit will be credited towards your trip.
  • Valid passport is required. Securing or updating a passport is the traveler’s responsibility. A valid passport is required to obtain a travel visa.
  • Valid travel visa is required. Processing fee is $155. The Hillsboro Chamber will process all visas.
  • Single room occupancy is available at additional $750.
  • A minimum $25 gratuity (one-time ask for entire tour) is not included and will be collected on your first day.
  • Optional tours are available at your own expense.

  • The airline imposes a $500 cancellation fee after tickets are purchased, if for any reason you need to cancel. Travel insurance is recommended in case of any cancellations.
