ecoShuttle Dawn of the Bed EventHost
Sunday, May 1 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Where: ecoShuttle Lot/Garage, 2420 NE Columbia Blvd Portland, OR 97211

Please join us at ecoShuttle this May Day for fun, games, and a silent auction and help us raise money for local families in need! Enjoy local wine and beer, hor's devours, and live music. The whole family will enjoy the day, so bring your little ones!

The event is free, but we will be accepting donations throughout the day. All proceeds will benefit local non-profit Growing Gardens and raise financial pledges to the Dawn of the Bed cause.

Our goal to help impoverished families in the Portland area grow their own organic groceries. On May 7th, the ecoShuttle gardening team will build a raised bed, and the contributions will supply families with tools and gardening workshops for three years.

Contact Fiona Mitchell at fmitchell@ecoshuttle.net for sponsorship or tabling opportunities. Bring as little as $1 or your checkbook, we just hope to see you (and the sun) there! Check out www.growing-gardens.org or www.ecoShuttle.net for more info!

First Tuesday, May 3 from 6pm until 8pm

Spring has come and it is a wonderful time to take a walk downtown Hillsboro on First Tuesday, May 3 from 6 pm until 8 pm.

Start at Summa Real Estate Group, 231 E. Main St. and listen to a new musical act in town.... Steve "Grif" Griffiths, although he certainly is not new to music. Moving to the U.S. from England in the 70s, Grif maintains that Beatles accent and sings some of those same rock and roll type songs. His hair is a bit longer than those fab four and his clothes a bit wilder, but his enthusiasm and listening enjoyment are just about equal!

As for artwork, you will enjoy seeing the artwork of JanSu Hirst and her series of wildlife art. Unique is her method of starting with a wood burning tool on watercolor paper and finishing by painting to make the paper look like leather. Summa's space gives her the room to show her largest works of art and you can see how expansive they are.

First Tuesday's Line-up:
Summa Real Estate Group, 231 East Main St.
Featured Artist: JanSu Hirst
Music: Steve "Grif" Griffith, Singer/Guitarist

3rd Annual Wizards vs. Hillsboro Hoopsters basketball Game

The Harlem Wizards are returning to Liberty HS for the 3rd Annual Wizards vs. Hillsboro Hoopsters basketball game on Friday, May 6th at 7pm. The Hillsboro Hoopsters (local educators) team will take on the Harlem Wizards in a fun night of humor, hoops and ally-oops. The Hoopsters welcome special guest player Drew Carney of KGW News Channel 8 - who will join the team for the evening's game. (Doors open at 6 p.m.). Tickets on sale NOW. Students/Senior Citizens: $6 (pre-sale) or $8 (at the gate); Adults: $10 (pre-sale) or $12 (at the gate). District staff price: $6 with District badge @ the gate. You can alsopurchase your tickets on-line ($1.25 ticket fee per ticket will apply)

The event is put on to help promote school spirit in Liberty community and is a fund-raiser for our 2011 & 2012 Senior All-Night, Drug/Alcohol-Free Graduation Parties. Last year through the generous donations of local businesses and community members, we were able to provide over 180 tickets to students to attend the Wizards game. Those students came from Hillsboro School District schools and the Hillsboro Boys & Girls Club. Every $100 in donations resulted in 20 student tickets. We were very fortunate to have such great support and would love to make this possible again this year. Would it be possible for your business to donate $100 for student tickets? We are happy to promote and publicly thank your business for your generous donation in our program. Please contact Janeen Sollman at 503-642-2707 or hillsborohoopsters@gmail.com.
